Press Release

Memphis, Tennessee – Campaign for School Equity’s executive director Mendell Grinter released the following statement in response to Memphis and Nashville superintendents call for a pause to state testing in wake of recent issues.

Campaign for School Equity understands the burden that TNReady testing places on schools, students and teachers; however, assessments are critical in understanding how students are performing in key academic areas. We support a push for the state to re-evaluate the program and its vendors, but we urge leaders to continue to implement assessments in some form so that we can adequately measure student achievement during the interim.
