Memphis, Tennessee – Campaign for School Equity’s executive director Mendell Grinter released the following statement in response to Dr. Penny Schwinn being named as Tennessee’s next education commissioner.
“New leadership at the state education department provides an excellent opportunity for Tennessee to continue on its path towards improving equity, expanding access to quality education options, and developing authentic engagement of stakeholders on the ground, namely students and teachers in our classrooms.
Campaign for School Equity welcomes Dr. Penny Schwinn to the role of education commissioner, and we look forward to working together with her as we continue to support all efforts to improve education for Tennessee students.”
