Brenda Crawford, a sophomore at Trezevant High School and a member of the student advocacy program with the Campaign for School Equity, one of the groups represented, said students deserve access to resources, safe buildings and high-quality education.

“As a student, I’ve had first-hand experience with ripped textbooks, leaky roofs, permanent subs, lack of technology and cut programs,” she said, reading prepared remarks. “These obstacles hinder us from making adequate academic progress.”
